Course Preparation and Completion Time
The minimum acceptable standard with regard to the length of time for completion of
any continuing education course is 2 hours. Any course taken, whether on-site or correspondence, must
have associated with it a 2 hour time frame that may consist of preparation time, completion/assessment
time, or both. The continuing education program under review must publish an approximate time frame that
is equal to or exceeds 2 hours or provide the NFPT with documentation that states such.
Course Cordinator and Presenter
The continuing education course must have coordinator(s) and/or presenter(s) that
possess sufficient knowledge of the content area in which they teach. Formal education (minimum of bachelor's
degree) related to the course subject matter is a requirement of an approved CEC course and/or presenter.
Extra Credit
If the content area of a continuing education course that you have taken is not on this Approved CEC Provider list,
please provide documentation referencing the course content along with verification of completion. This information will be
reviewed by a peer group of NFPT subject matter experts who will determine the course's content matter as acceptable for NFPT
continuing education credit.
Are you an Education Provider?
If you're an education provider with a course/s/ that you would like NFPT to consider
approving for credit, which includes an NFPT web listing and additional exposure, please review and submit
the NFPT CEC Application. An approval process, associated fee, and renewal requirements do apply. Download our application for course approval here.
NFPT does not allow for advanced credit, CECs must be obtained semi-annually within
the 6 month periods between January-June and July-December each certification year. Please contact us with
any questions.
