Recognition of the overwhelming need for safe and professional fitness instruction in the midst of a proliferation of personal trainer education and certification programs has prompted the formation of this Ethics & Safety Compliance Standards (ESCS) initiative. The ESCS mission is to challenge all personal trainers and fitness professionals to meet or exceed enforceable conduct & ethics requirements as well as requirements concerning public safety through compliance with a universal protocol in client pre-exercise screenings. ESCS efforts represent the necessary first step in the successful self-regulation and advancement of the fitness training profession.
