Ron Clark, president and CEO, founded the National Federation of Professional Trainers in 1988. He established NFPT to close the gap between the ever-present ultra clinical certifications and the practically non-existent fundamental certifications of the 80s. Ron has always been motivated to equip aspiring personal trainers with comprehensive fitness knowledge that cultivates confidence in on-the-job trainer skill sets.

NFPT offers a foundational education and credential to those who seek personal trainer employment. The NFPT personal trainer certification program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

Prior to establishing NFPT, Ron’s innate leadership abilities and entrepreneurial spirit motivated him to open The Gym, Inc. Ron broke into the industry as a personal trainer and bodybuilder. As a personal trainer he experienced first-hand a lack of fitness community support and industry authority amongst his peers. He aspired to strengthen both. As a NPC and AAU Mr. Indiana bodybuilding champion, Ron discovered his fascination for the human body. When combining these two experiences, his new obsession quickly grew - he was determined to become a trusted advisor for those who were considering personal training as a career.

Twenty-five years later, he is still striving to offer counsel to NFPT certified personal trainers while providing a credible certification program that will advance their career. He has since established initiatives and associations in an effort to encourage collaboration of industry professionals for the purpose of raising the bar in the fitness training profession. He is the owner and active publisher of Personal Trainer Today Magazine.

Ron attended Saddleback College in California and Ivy Tech State College in Indiana.  His studies and continuing education focus on exercise science, which includes, but not limited to, biology, anatomy, physiology, applied nutrition, business administration and management.
