Introduction to Exam

The NFPT specialty examinations consist of:

Advanced Nutrition Specialist
Advanced Endurance Specialist
Advanced Weight & Resistance Training Specialist
250 questions
150 questions
300 questions

Each specialty examination requires a score of 70 for successful completion. These specialty programs act as a stand alone assessment/credential, a complement to your personal trainer certification, and/or continuing education credits. These assessments are subject matter specific and demand a thorough understanding of the concepts related to the topic. The average study time for each of these examinations is 30-40 hours while completion of any one of the three exams is approximately 2-3 hours.

*MASTER TRAINER CREDENTIAL
Remember that completion of all three examinations qualifies you for the Master Trainer Certificate credential. This credential recognizes the successful completion of all NFPT specialty courses. You will receive certificates for each specialty course at the time that you achieve each respective credential. Over any period of time you may successfully complete all three specialty exams, and at this time you will receive the NFPT Master Trainer Certificate.

Preparing for your Exam

All Candidates are allowed to sit for any of NFPT's five (5) personal trainer certification and specialty certificate assessments without education provision from NFPT as it may be presumed that the candidate does possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's), necessary to pass the assessment without further study and earn the designated credential. However, since NFPT's manuals are based upon independent research, and few fitness professionals have reviewed this information from other sources, it is strongly recommended ALL candidates review the appropriate provided educational manuals to increase their knowledge base while assisting in the preparation for the assessment. The NFPT Board of Education provides the recommended study curriculum for this course in the form of a CD ROM ( online demo ) where the content can be easily downloaded and printed for your review. The following Table of Contents provide detailed outlines of NFPT's Advanced Sports Nutrition, Advanced Endurance Trainer, and Advanced Weight Training Specialty Programs.

Upon the receipt of your NFPT specialty course application and payment, you will be given a test due date of one (1) year from the time that you have applied to the program.

*Recognize that since the Certification Council is completely autonomous and there is NO collaboration between the Certification Council and Board of Education that there may be a brief portion of the assessment requiring KSA's not provided by the Board of Education.
