2012 IDEA World Fitness Convention Tips

It’s time for IDEA’s annual fitness convention. Can you believe a year has already gone by? The 2012 IDEA World Fitness Convention is scheduled July 5-8, 2012 at the San Diego Convention Center, Marriott Marquis Hotel. The four-day event will host more than 300 sessions and unite thousands of personal trainers and professionals in the fitness industry.

According to IDEA’s press release titled: 2012 IDEA World Fitness Convention™: Redefining Fitness for the Future:

“2012 IDEA World Convention is a launching point and defining moment for our industry”, says Kathie Davis, IDEA’s co-founder and executive director. “We believe the future of our industry is brighter than ever as fitness rapidly evolves into a more integrated, balanced circle of wholeness that merges body, mind and inspiration…The education and product knowledge delivered at IDEA World is a fundamental part of the passion that drives our professionals.”

We’re pumped to attend this year’s convention. We’ll be at BOOTH #1805 where we’ll share some exciting news! First and foremost, we’re introducing a new continuing education course, “FUNCTIONAL FOUNDATIONS: The Principles of Functional Exercise,” and we’’ll raffle off 10 course books. And, just in case you’re into winning stuff…check out the raffle tickets in the IDEA attendee’s packet for your chance to win a CPT or Master Fitness Trainer Course. Or, simply come by our booth for a free collapsible water bottle and just say, “Hi!”

I have so many memories of IDEA through the years. I actually remember attending my first IDEA show in 1994. I remember thinking, “How in the world can someone see everything here?” The fact is – you can’t. Every year, we leave thinking we could have or should have done something we didn’t. So, this year, we’ve derived a plan, set our goals and organized our itinerary.

After reviewing our plan, I wanted to share our Top Three Convention Tips:

Draw Your Route

IDEA has provided attendees and exhibitors a bunch of info on its website. Be sure to check it out. Research the list of exhibitors and spend time reviewing the interactive floor plan. Print it off and check your must-see booths and prioritize them.

Don’t Be a Hero

It’s very easy to become overwhelmed at the San Diego Convention Center due to its size and layout. Don’t try and see everyone in one day. Maybe take the first day to hit your priority contacts. But, then on your second day, walk the floor and network with everyone and anyone. The fitness world is quickly changing and many in the industry are making some pretty big changes.

Keep Diligent Notes

You will become infiltrated with a ton of information. Write it down in your trusty notebook, record audio or video clips with smart phone, or use an app – whatever your method, keep track of everyone you meet and the information you want to remember and research when you get back home.

Stop and see us at our BOOTH # 1805. We’re located directly in front of the registration table. When you get there be sure to tell us if you have answered the IDEA trivia question. (Simply leave your answer in the comments seciton below! The answer must be in the comments section to win. Hint: you can even do it once you get to our booth with your smart phone!) We’ll check it out right at our booth and if you’ve answered the question correctly – you’ll get our fancy new T-Shirt.

So – here it is – your IDEA trivia question: What is this year’s convention theme?

Get ready! It’s going to be an exhausting and invigorating four days!

Marketing Mondays will resume on July 9.
