List people you trained or mentors/teachers as references. If you have none, it’s time to start personal training friends and family to build experience. Offer them free 30 minute sessions, it’ll build your confidence and provide testimonials. When preparing your resume and cover letter, realize that skills you had in your past jobs do transfer over to being a personal trainer. Especially customer service, strategic planning and marketing related jobs.
