What Creates Health (9)
Radiant health comes when we are happy and living in balance in body, mind and spirit. We get adequate rest, sunshine, exercise, water and whole natural food. We breathe properly from deep down in our abdomens, gently and regularly. We sleep well at night. We allow ourselves to give and receive love. We love ourselves in every way. We wear clothes made of natural fibers that bring us joy and interact with people who mirror love back to us. We take time alone. We feel peaceful and balanced inside. Silence is a great healer. We take time in nature with Mother Earth. We have abundance, doing the work we love to do.
Homeostasis is altered when the body’s pH is impacted by acid forming foods. pH is a symbol for the degree of acidity or alkalinity in a solution. pH stands for “particles of Hydrogen” or “power of Hydrogen”. The maintenance of a stable hydrogen ion concentration in the body fluids is essential to life. Any substance with a pH lower than 7.0 is considered acidic, while a pH above 7.0 is considered alkaline. Ideal pH for the human body is between 6.8 and 7.2. Therefore, a pH above 7.2 is considered alkaline and lower than 6.8 is considered acidic. Alkaline forming foods include: fruits, vegetables, Brazil nuts, coconut and almonds, soy products, lima beans, sprouted grains and seeds, honey, maple syrup and raisins.
Acid forming foods include: a high protein diet (70-80% protein; 20-30% carbs), high levels of stress, highly processed foods (containing preservatives), and high amounts of sugar in your diet.10
